Pawling, NY-Robert Joseph Dumas died February 8th at the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Pawling, New York,, he was 94. He was the son of the late Stephen H Dumas and Marguerite Albright Dumas.

A 50 year resident Castleton, he was born in Albany, NY, and graduated from St. John’s Academy in Rensselaer. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army (389th infantry) during WWII in the Pacific Theater, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Robert retired from the Sterling Winthrop Research Institute in 1985 where he was employed as a stationery engineer. Prior to that he worked many years at Fort Orange Paper in Castleton. Robert was a long time member of the Melvin Roads American Legion Post 1231 in East Greenbush, Rensselaer Elks Lodge # 2073, former board member of the Castleton Library and active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Castleton for 50 years.

He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years Hazel, his brother Stephan Dumas of Little River, SC and sister Catherine Dumas Hall of Delmar.
Survived by daughters Susan (Andrew) Cordaro of Mt. Vernon, NY, Linda (Richard) Spero, of Reno, NV, Lisa Callahan of Fairfield, CT. and son Peter (Lenore) Dumas of Daniel Is., SC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Justin, Andrea, David, Aaron, Katie, Caroline, Robert and Myles as well as his great-grandchildren , Hope and Ava.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave. in Castleton on Sunday from 2-4pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred heart Church in Castleton on Monday at 10am. The interment will take place in the spring.

In Lieu of flowers donations in Roberts memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 3 Catholic Way Castleton, NY 12033.
