Virginia Pociluk

b. January 24, 2013

Pociluk, Virginia R.

Virginia R. Pociluk, affectionately known as Ginny, formerly residing at 114 Green Ave. Apt 125, Castleton, NY 12033 passed away on January 24, 2013 at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, NY.

Ginny was born June 8, 1928 in Schodack Landing, NY. Her parents were George VanDeWal and Louise Smith, both from Castleton, NY. Ginny attended one and two room’s schools in the Castleton area until the Ninth Grade.
Ginny had four siblings, Mildred, Marjorie, Violet and Harold. She is survived by her sister Marjorie of 88 years living in Keller, Texas. She shared the same birth days as two of her siblings.
She first married Frank Michael of Rensselaer, NY in 1947 and later re-married Millard Pociluk in 1957. She lived in Rensselaer County during her entire lifetime.
In her early years she was a stay at home mom and later worked in Rensselaer, New York at a local glove factory and at Hyuck Felt Company. She became a mom once again later in life and then resumed working at a new career at the Schodack Central School System as a bus driver. During her long tenure as a bus driver she won the hearts of children and parents alike. She had the great knack of being a great friend and mixed it very well with being a disciplinarian. She lived her life that way. If someone needed a helping hand, money, inspiration, hugs, kisses or words of encouragement she was the first one there. She was the kind of person that did not take no for an answer. When Ginny got involved, it was all the way and that was her greatest attribute. Her desire for adventure, sense of humor and ability to talk your ear off gained her favor wherever she travelled. She became everybody’s favorite Friend, Aunt, Grandmother and ultimately Great-Grandmother.
She had a deep abiding faith in the Lord and worshiped at the Muitzeskill Dutch Reformed Church. Ginny’s love of her Dutch ancestorage brought her great pride and would evoke many a conversation about her lineage.

Ginny loved cats, dogs and butterflies, too! After her hip re-placement she became a power walker, long before it was fashionable. She continued her walking career up until the end. Wind, rain, ice or snow would not deter her.

She is survived and loved by two sons and their spouses, Rodney D. and Phyllis Michael and Robert and Pamela Pociluk. A step-daughter Wanda Stevens from her second marriage who she considered to be her real daughter and Wanda is married to Burton Stevens, living in North Carolina. Ginny had the great pleasure of being an Aunt to nine nieces, five nephews, nine grandnephews and fourteen grand nieces. As a grandmother she leaves behind 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter and as a great grandmother she leaves behind a great grandson and a great granddaughter.

No greater love had she, than for her family. The Lord used her life well! In her own words,
“You are all a blessing to me.”
