Leonard, Winifred C.

Castleton-Winifred C. Leonard, 85, daughter of the late George and Grace (Thomson) Leonard, died early Wednesday morning April 9, 2014 at Albany Memorial Hospital. She was predeceased by her sister, Jean Schroder (Raymond), and brothers Gordon Leonard and Robert (Lucille) Leonard.

Winnie graduated from Castleton Union School after which she was employed for over 30 years at Huyck Felt Company until they moved their operations out of the area. She subsequently went to work at the Fort Orange Paper Company until her retirement.

Winnie was a member of the Castleton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge. She was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church where she spent many years as a Sunday School Teacher.

She is survived by her brother George (Rose) Leonard; sister-in-law Diane Leonard; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and dear friend Joseph Faranda.

Calling hours will be 3-7 pm Sunday April 13, 2014 at Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton, NY. Her funeral servive will be at 11:00 am Monday April 14, 2014 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Horizonview Cemetery.
