Verda M. Johnson

Verda M. Johnson, 79, of East Greenbush, formerly of Castleton passed away at home on May 14, 2023. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Millard and Frances (Burke) Lovely. Prior to her stroke over 20 years ago Verda worked for Hamilton Printing Co. in Castleton and was a member of the Castleton Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She was known for her kind nature and for providing a house for her family that was always filled with laughter. She enjoyed spending time with her family and hosting parties at her house, especially her yearly Christmas eve party.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband James Johnson and her siblings, Gerald Lovely, Jeanne Lovely and Patricia Folmsbee. She is survived by her daughters Eva (Bill) Repko and Juanita (Mark) Williams; sister, Sandy Loya; grandchildren, Sara (Joe), David (Bonnie) and Daniel. She is also survived by her great granddaughter Arianna and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Verda’s grandson David, with whom she shared a very special bond. His kindness, patience and loving care provided his Mimi years filled with joy, comfort, and love.

Funeral services will be private at the request of the family.
