Stanley H. Hotaling

Castleton- Stanley H. Hotaling, 96, a lifelong Castleton resident passed away on December 7, 2024, at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born in Albany to the late Charles and Ruth Hotaling, Stanley attended Castleton Schools where he excelled at baseball and basketball earning the nickname "Stan The Man." Highschool is where he met his beloved late wife, Marjorie Anna Peter, with whom he grew his family. He went on to serve honorably in the United States Navy before being discharged in 1950.

Stanley held numerous jobs over the years including delivering oil for Heater Oil Company, bottling and delivering his own soda door to door under Koppens Beverages, driving a school bus for Schodack Central Schools and finally delivering mail for the USPS where he walked several miles per day around the Village of Castleton.

Stan is survived by his children, Linda (the late Lee) Reickert, Bruce (Nancy) Hotaling, Barry (Pamela) Hotaling, and Terri (Robert) Schembre. He is also survived by his beloved 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings Bill, Glen, and Eddie.

Services for Stan will be planned for the Spring of 2025.
