Sheila A. Mitchell

April 21, 1950 — July 9, 2023

Sheila A. Mitchell, age 73 of Castleton, NY passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2023 surrounded by family. Born April 21, 1950, in West Boylston, MA, she was the daughter of the late Edward Martineit and Elizabeth Martineit. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Frederick Mitchell and her three children; son Christian Mitchell, and his husband Simon deBeaupre, daughter Andrea Mitchell, daughter Jenny Fink and her husband Matt Fink, and by her 4 grandchildren: Autumn Mitchell, Jayde Pelletier, Cole Pelletier and Isabella Quezada-Mitchell. She is also survived by two great grandchildren: LJ and Maciel LaPorte, her brother Edward Martineit and her dog Sadie.

Sheila was dedicated to her family, friends and community. People in the community may know her as “The Happy Cookie Lady”, often calling on her for delicious cookies and decorative cakes (don’t worry we made sure to get those recipes). She was most happy when surrounded by her family and friends; often while making a feast out of whatever was in the fridge. She always showed up with a listening ear and a laugh that outshined the room. She loved her garden and sitting on the porch to watch the sunset.

She taught us that some things are for certain; baking soda can be used for everything, flour is kept in the freezer, don’t buy what you can make, when driving, the speed limit is “just go with the flow”, What’s Up Doc truly was the best movie but every movie should star Diane Keaton, the best beaches are in the North East, and fairies really do exist.

At Sheila’s request she was cremated with no formal service and in lieu of flowers you may make a donation in her name to
