b. July 20, 2013

Truesell, Robert L.

Castleton-Robert Lee Truesell(born October 3, 1939 in Albany, NY) passed peacefully from this life on July 20, 2013. He was born one of six siblings. He was predeceased by his parents Frank Perry Truesell and Dorothy Anne Blowers and his companion and caretaker, Jessie Fasoldt of Schodack Landing, NY. Robert is survived by his special friend and sweetheart, Ellen Pierce, by a brother, Francis Truesell and nephew James Truesell (Schenectady) as well as many other members of the Truesell family. In addition, he is survived by his adoptive brothers Richard Crawford (Schodack Landing, NY) and Robert Crawford (Manassas, Virginia) as well as his adoptive aunt Mary Dudley (Schodack Landing, NY). Robert lived most of his adult life in Schodack Landing. He was a simple, honest man, a personality in his own right. He was generous and good-hearted. He was a hard working person all of his life. He spent 20 years of devoted service at the Four Brothers Restaurant in Valatie after having worked in kitchens for other firms. He was a frequent visitor to the Castleton Stewart’s and a later resident at the Castle Hill Apartments. Robert will be remembered for his jokes, smiles, chain-smoking and affectionately rambunctious personality. He was a gentleman, caring and sharing with his friends, loved ones and caretakers. His special devotion to Jessie Fasoldt through many decades will always be remembered. Robert received genuinely caring support over the past 2 years from the staff of castle Hill Apartments, the Eddy Daybreak in Rensselaer, the Long-Term Care Team of Fidelis, the Eddy Buffaline Fund, Protective Services for Adults of Rensselaer County, and Albany Memorial Hospital 6th Floor and Hospice. All efforts were made by many compassionate, diligent individuals to have Roberts final years be as happy, safe and comfortable as possible. Special honor is due to Ms. Barbara Segretto and Ms. Mary-Lou Cappolano as professional social workers who have that rare ability to nurture and guide others in ways that are kind, accepting and good. Respectfully, arrangements will be handled through Ray Funeral Services in Castleton, NY and will be private. A memorial is to be announced at a later date on the bulletin board at the Castleton Stewart’s. Donations in Roberts name may be made to one of the above organizations. He was a genuine American character. May he rest in peace.
