Robert E. Bolt

Castleton- Robert E. Bolt, 87, of Castleton, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, with his family by his side. Born in Albany, he was the youngest child of the late Dederick and Marge (Wilson) Bolt of Menands and was the devoted husband and best friend for 55 years to his now deceased wife, Patricia Grace Bolt. Robert grew up in Menands two houses down from his future wife.

Robert graduated on June 29, 1954, from Philip Schuyler High School and continued his education at Hudson Valley Technical Institute where he obtained an Associates Degree in Electrical Technology, prior to being hired by NY Telephone Company, where he started work as an outdoor lineman. Robert had a calling to his country and voluntarily entered the draft in February of 1957 and honorably served his country in the United States Army until 1959. He then returned to NY Telephone Company and became a Central Office Foreman; also at that time he began dating the love of his life, Patricia, and they married on November 4, 1961.

Robert had an extreme love of nature and was an avid outdoorsman his whole life, starting at a very young age. So much so that he was recognized personally with an article in "Boys Life Magazine" in 1953, at the young age of 15. He was happiest on his tractor in the fields, fishing, hunting, gardening, growing his famous tomatoes and planting trees by the hundreds, as observed surrounding and now towering over his mountain view home.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his siblings, John Bolt, Betty Spoore, and Tommy Bolt. 

Robert is survived by his two children, Robert (Kim) Bolt and Laurie Premo; his seven grandchildren, Emily (Steve) Caruso, Scott (Emina) McKnight, Nicole (Mike) Berkowitz, Amanda (Thomas) Arcidiacono, Parker Bolt, Evan Premo, and Julie Premo; as well as his ten great-grandchildren, Julia, Evelyn, and Joseph Berkowitz, Andre, Landon, and Emmett Arcidiacono, Luka and Niko McKnight, Cora and Sawyer Caruso.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Robert's family from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the Castleton Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave. Castleton, NY 12033. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Mountain View Cemetery, Scott Ave. Castleton, NY.
