Strevell, Renia
Castleton-Renia Strevell of Castleton, NY passed away peacefully at home surrrouded by her family at the age of 74. Renia immigrated to the United States as a young child with her sister Genia (Bini) and parents David and Esther Rosenfeld.
A holocaust survivor, Renia lived her life with great joy, celebrating every day to the fullest. A devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and sister, Renia enjoyed spending time with her family. Retired from the Senate, Renia also spent her lifetime involved with various family businesses, working at her parents deli in Colonie Center and for much of her later life at Funplex Fun Park in East Greenbush, where she could found every Saturday since it opened. She enjoyed spending her free time playing bingo at the local fire hall, going to the casino and shopping with her sister.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph F. Strevell (late Mary) and Chauncey C. Strevell (Heather E. King); granddaughters, Nicole (Strevell) Childrose (Robert) and Maya M. Manfred; her sister, Genia (Rosenfeld) Bini; nephews, Stephen Bini (Beth), Pauly Bini and Eric Bini (Jen).
Calling hours will be Thursday April 9, 2015 from 5-8 pm at Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton, NY. A graveside service will take place 11 am Friday April 9, 2015 at Horizon View Cemetery, Castleton.
