ROBERTS, KATHRYN CHRISTINA

Saratoga Springs-Kathryn “Chris” Roberts, 69, of Albany and Bolton Landing, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 30, 2014 after an extended illness.

Chris was the beloved wife of Hugh D. Roberts for 44 years and the mother of Hugh Roberts Jr., who predeceased her in 2002. She was the daughter of the late Bernard and Kathryn Lynch and is survived by her sisters Veronica Lynch of Albany and Sharon(Mark) Fenno of New Scotland, and in-laws Phil, Owen, Lisa and Sheila Roberts, and numerous nieces and nephews.

After growing up in Delmar and attending Academy of the Holy Names , Chris studied at the Albany College of Pharmacy. In 1970 she married Hugh Roberts and was involved with him in the growth of the real estate business. Over the years Chris was active in local institutions, including as a Board Member of the Albany Institute of History and Art and as a member of the Action Council for the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, along with many others.

Chris was best known to family and friends as a gourmet chef and especially for her desserts which were much anticipated by all. She was an avid reader and Master gardener as well. It is estimated that she had a collection of over 600 cookbooks and gardening books. Her best buddies, labs Boonie and Abby, will miss Chris for her love and especially for the special meals she prepared for them.

The Roberts and Lynch families want to express their appreciation to the nursing staff on 3 Hawthorne, Wesley Health Care Center who showed great compassion for and took wonderful care of Chris during her time with them.

Private services will be held for Chris. She will be buried alongside her son Hugh in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Castleton, NY.
