Kathie Nichols

December 12, 1951 — February 13, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathie Ann Nichols, who left this world peacefully in her sleep at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY, on February 13, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on December 12, 1951, in Albany, NY, she later spent many years in Hudson, NY, surrounded by the love of her family.

Kathie dedicated over 20 years of her life to Columbia Memorial Hospital's food service department, taking great pride in preparing and delivering meals. With a compassionate spirit, she played a vital role in patient care, believing wholeheartedly that nourishment was an essential part of the healing process. Her kindness and dedication brought comfort to countless patients, and her service left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Beyond her career, Kathie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved to immerse herself in stories through her Kindle and enjoyed the thrill of playing games on her computer. Additionally, she had a deep love for butterflies, finding beauty and meaning in their delicate grace. Just as butterflies bring lightness and wonder to the world, Kathie's presence brought warmth and happiness to everyone who knew her.

A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Kathie is survived by her beloved children, Amy Armando, Travis Sweet (Elizabeth), and Richard Sweet-Keech (Adam), Crystal Weinheimer, Vanessa Nichols (Genevieve), and Fenwick Weinheimer, Jr. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her 14 grandchildren and 3 cherished great-grandchildren, Rita, Ryker, and River. Their laughter was her favorite sound, and every moment with them was a treasured gift, filling her days with love, warmth, and endless joy.

Kathie is also survived by her two brothers, Daniel Nichols of Castleton and Ronald Nichols of New Lebanon, and two sisters, Mary Jo Flagg of North Greenbush and Sally Mantica of Yuma, AZ. She is predeceased by her parents, Rita J. Nichols and Richard Nichols Jr.

In honoring Kathie's wishes, she will be cremated. In lieu of formal services, her family will host a Celebration of Life in the spring or summer of 2025, bringing together her friends and family to celebrate the wonderful person she was and the love and joy she brought to those around her.
