Amodeo, Jon A.
Jon A. Amodeo, 78, of Castleton, died peacefully at home, Thursday, May 26, 2016, following a brief illness, with his beloved wife of 56 years, and family surrounding him.
Jon was born in Albany, the son of the late Frank and Katherine (Kittle) Amodeo.
A graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, Jon held many professions throughout his life before retiring as a Truck Driver. He operated several businesses including a Liquor Store, Beauty Salon, Taxidermy Shop, Upholstery Shop and a small deli/grocery store, which included a game room to encourage a safe place for local kids to come to, ‘The Korner Store’. Those who met Jon knew he was never at a loss for conversation. He was passionate about seeking & acquiring new skills, receiving many certifications of which he was quite proud. He loved to hunt, fish, golf, garden and ‘tinker’ in his workshop. His Heart & Home were always open, where he made everyone feel welcome.
He is pre-deceased by 3 brothers James, Jay and J. Michael Amodeo, and his oldest son Francis J. Amodeo; and survived by his wife Charolette A. Amodeo, their children: Jody Cady (Joe Bodner, Jr.), Daniel Amodeo (Mary Ferguson), John Amodeo, Stephen Amodeo, Thomas Amodeo, Patrick Amodeo, and Linda Amodeo (Don Taylor); 18 Grandchildren, and 8 Great-Grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral Mass Wednesday June 1, 2016 at 11 am in Sacred Heart Church, 3 Catholic Way, Castleton, NY. Calling hours will be Tuesday May 31, 2016 3-7 pm in Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton.
