Frank J. Davidson

Frank John Davidson, 89, passed away on July 19, 2021 at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home. Mr. Davidson was born on May 14, 1932 at his Grandfather's home (Henry Folmsbee), 54 Scott Avenue, Castleton to parents Frank and Elsie Folmsbee Davidson and has lived in the Castleton area all his life.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps in January of 1951. He saw action in Korea with the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines in the "Punchbowl" area and later on the west coast in the "hill battles." His awards include the Combat Action Ribbon, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Korean Campaign Ribbon with 3 bronze stars, the NYS Conspicuous Service Star and the NYS Medal for Merit.

After Military service, he was active in the community as a coach and manager for Little League and Babe Ruth baseball.
Mr. Davidson was employed by Utica Mutual Insurance Co. and retired in 1994 as audit specialist from Aetna Life & Casualty Insurance Co.

He was a Past Commander and a life member of the Castleton VFW Post 7337, life member of the Marine Corps League, life member of the 1st Marine Division Association, and a member of the American Legion Post 0001. He also served as President of the Castleton Fish & Game Protective Association and was a member of the Tri-Village Rod and Gun Club.

He leaves his loving wife Judith Stinger Davidson, daughters, Karen (Stephen) Larsen, Kathleen Davidson and Katrina (Scott) Swartz. He is also survived by granddaughters, Jennifer (Andrew) Riddle, Danielle and Rachel Larsen and grandsons, Michael (Megan) Swartz and Jeffrey Swartz (partner Rachel Bennett) and great grandchildren Samuel and Madison Riddle; stepson, Peter (Ruth) Defiglio, Jr. and step-grandson Scott Defiglio. Mr. Davidson was predeceased by his beloved sister, Rose (Richard) Leonard.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Castleton Funeral Home (former Ray Funeral Home), 59 Seaman Ave. Castleton, on Monday August 2, from 4-7PM.
