Koryn, Frances H.
Frances (Fran) H. Koryn, 93, of Castleton On Hudson, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 8th 2017, at the Eddy Village Green. Born in Albany on January 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Muriel Hardy. She shared a loving devotion for 58 years with her husband John J. Koryn , married on Valentines’ Day, February 14th, 1942, prior to his passing in 2000. Fran and John built their home at 99 Green Avenue in Castleton in 1950 where they raised their children, worked, and retired.
She is survived by her three children, John J. Koryn, Jr. of Franklin, NC, Robert Koryn (Pamela), and Eileen M. Puccio (Gary) of Castleton, and her sister Pauline Lubin (Richard Collier) of Clifton Park, and five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Jean Perrey (Bill) of Troy, and her brother Austin E.Hardy (Rita) of Lantana, FL.
A wife and mother, Fran worked selling Avon products and later as a bus driver for Schodack Central Schools. She and John spent time traveling around the country in their motor home, and in their later years spent winters in Florida. She is remembered in the village as the “Poppy Lady” selling V.F.W. poppies, every year at the Castleton Memorial Day Parade. She was honored in 2006 for her 50+ years of loyal and dedicated service to the Castleton V.F.W. Post 7337.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton, NY on Tuesday, April 11th from 4 to7. Her funeral Mass will be held Wednesday 10 am at Sacred Heart Church, Catholic Way, Castleton. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
