MORGAN, DANIEL J. Schodack Landing – Daniel J. Morgan, Sr., 87, long time resident of Schodack Landing, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on April 1, 2023. Born on a farm in Oyster Bay, NY, to Irish immigrants John Morgan and Margaret (Cunningham) Morgan, Dan epitomized all that is Irish. Throughout his life his Irish ancestry and proud heritage shined through, hallmarked by several visits to his family’s ancestorial home in County Antrim, Ireland. Following high school, Dan was employed by the US Post Office and served in the US Army Reserves. He married Margaret Teresa “Tessie” Cassley, a colleen from County Monaghan, Ireland, in 1956, and together they raised a family of which he was extremely proud. He was also unapologetically proud to be a life-long democrat and a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (local #294). He was a long-time employee of James Ackroyd and Sons, Albany, NY. Daniel was previously an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and a Charter member of the Schodack Landing Fire Company beginning in 1955. He previously served as member of the Board of Fire Commissioners. Daniel was predeceased by Teresa, his loving wife of 53 years, son Daniel Jr., and sister Mary Fay. He is survived by his children John (Linda), Mary (Patrick) Flanagan, James (Amy), and daughter-in law Wendy, brother-in law Jack Cassley, grandchildren Erin, Colleen (Kyle), Molly (PJ), Glenna (Andy), Sean Flanagan, Brendan (Emily), Eilis (Dash), Bryan, Aidan (Jamie) Flanagan, Tonya (Kevin) Danish, and great-grandchildren Bailey, Morgan and Quinnlin. Daniel is also survived by his special friend Patricia Bowman and her family. Funeral Mass will be offered at Sacred Heart Church, 3 Catholic Way, Castleton Wednesday, April 5th at 9AM. Relatives and friends are invited and may call to the Castleton Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton Tuesday from 4pm-7pm. Interment will be in New Sacred Heart Cemetery, S. Old Post Road Castleton.
