Chiovini, Carolyn S.
Carolyn S. Hoffman Chiovini, born on April 30, 1924, left for a more peaceful place on June 1, 2014, under the guidance of Community Hospice of Columbia-Greene Counties and in the presence of her beloved family. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Ernest, and her daughters Diane (John) Zoller, Susan (Edward) Secovnie, Karyn Trossbach (Ben Mastrototaro), and Anita (Ken) Broughton. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Raymond Ennis, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Ruby (Kohlepp) and William Hoffman, and siblings Barbara Ennis and William (Sadie) Hoffman.
After graduating from Rensselaer High School, Carolyn worked for NY State and married Ernest. After WWII, she became a home maker and raised her family in Schodack Landing, NY and San Francisco, CA. She was a member of the Rosary-Altar Society at the former Church of the Assumption in Schodack Landing.
In retirement Carolyn and Ernest continued to travel. She enjoyed RV camping, ice skating, cross country skiing, bicycle riding, watching the Yankee games, and reading the newspaper from the first to the last page.
The family thanks the doctors, nurses, and staff at Columbia Memorial Hospital for their compassion and care in helping our mother in her valiant fight.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Thursday June 5, 2014 in Sacred Heart Church 3 Catholic Way, Castleton, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may call 3-7 Wednesday June 4, 2014 at Ray Funeral Home 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton, NY.
