Mother of James R. Cosgrave (Penny), Ricardo E. Cosgrave (Pamela), Sheryl A. Harrison (Donald), Brian W. Cosgrave, Donna M. Druba, and the Late Stephen

R. Cosgrave. Grandmother of 12 and Great Grandmother of 13. Aunt and Great Aunt to many Nieces and Nephews. Daughter of the Late William and Leona James. Sister of the late Robert E. Carol was a Co-founder of a nursery school, former Sunday school teacher and Superintendent, and co-authored and produced church school plays. Carol was a 4H, Girl Scout, and Cub Scout leader. She also volunteered for Little League in 2 counties. After retiring from the restaurant and health care fields Carol became involved in various additional volunteer services. Carol and her husband Al volunteered at the NYS Museum.

During WWII Carol went with her mother doing airplane spotting. In the evenings she accompanied her father when the air raid signal was going off to warn shop owners and any homes that had their lights on to turn them off until they heard the “all clear” signal. In high school Carol worked for Colonial Theaters as an usherette. During high school vacations she worked for the NYS Audit and Control and Tax departments. Later she worked for the NYS DMV. Carol spent many years working for the Head Injury Association and a few years at the Viking Dairy Bar. Carol went back to school and became a medical assistant; mainly working for the families of patients that were dying.

Carol, James, and their children vacationed a lot at Johnson’s Pond in the Adirondacks, visiting Frontier Town many times. Carol and Al loved to travel through many U.S. states and countries such as Costa Rica, Italy, Germany, Holland, and Mexico.

Afterglow

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,

Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun; Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
