Bruce Wheeler

Castleton- After several years of declining health, Bruce R Wheeler died on October 8, 2023, days after his 80th birthday. Third of five children, he earned a degree in Industrial Education at Northern Michigan University, then devoted 49 years of his life to public education in Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Malaysia with the Peace Corps. Subjects he taught included photography, electronics, and drafting; he also enjoyed his work as technical director for a theater program. He served as justice of the peace, beach commissioner, selectboard member, zoning board leader, and volunteer EMT for an ambulance squad.

He leaves Trudy Kelley, his friend of over 60 years; two sisters, Ruth Wheeler and Maggie Sadoway; his sister-in-law, Linda Wheeler. If you want, Bruce would be pleased with donations in his name to the Berkshire Humane Society, Pittsfield MA, as he was devoted to the many fur babies he shared his life with.
