Bonnie J. Evans

August 10, 1955 — December 6, 2022

Bonnie Jean Evans, 67, of Castleton passed away at home on Dec 6, 2022. Bonnie was born in Troy to the late George and Norine Hansen. She retired from the New York State Department of Higher Education after a long and distinguished career.

Bonnie enjoyed each and every moment of her retirement. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her life revolved around her family, her church and her community. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Church (Castleton-on-Hudson) and volunteered at the Anchor Food Pantry (Castleton-on-Hudson). She loved keeping busy and adored her coworkers at her part-time job.

Bonnie was always there for anyone that needed her. She never met a stranger and was always up for a dare. She had the best laugh and could brighten any room she walked into. She was a lifelong Jets fan, a passion she loved to share with anyone that would listen. In her spare time, she relaxed by diving into her creativity with crafting and Mandala coloring books, as well as spoiling her three wonderful cats, Harvey, Houdini, and Rain.

The light of her life was truly her family. She was married to the man of her dreams, the late Jordan Evans, on Valentine’s Day over thirty-five years ago. Together they built a magnificent life filled with love and laughter. She had two amazing best friends, Donna Sorrento (friends for over 60 years) and Ana Burgos (friends for over 40 years). Bonnie was unbelievably proud of each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, George and Norine Hansen; her husband, Jordan Evans; her sister Colleen Davis; and nephew CJ Brott. She is survived by her daughter, Tina Yerden of Ravena, NY; son, Christopher Yerden (Tonia) of Stuyvasant, NY; step-son, Wes Evans of Albany, NY; and step-son, Ike Evans of Lillington, NC; grandchildren, Wesley, Sheila, Abigail, Max, Hannah, Willow, and Preston; great-grandchildren, Landon and Trent; brother, George Hansen (Janice) of Roy, WA; sister, Tina Brott (Craig) of Rincon, GA; brother-in-law, Jeff Davis of Troy, NY; Nieces, Kiera, Ryanlee, and Lisa; Nephews, Shawn and Devon.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday December 15, 2022 at 11am at Sacred Heart Church located at 3 Catholic Way, Castleton-on-Hudson, NY, 12033. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to a local animal shelter or local food pantry.
