Bonnie Jean Betz
April 26, 1951 – October 7, 2019
Bonnie Jean Betz, age 68, entered heaven on Monday, October 7th, 2019 in Orlando, Florida. Born in Albany, NY to the late John Westley Van Gelder and Joan S. Van Gelder on April 26, 1951. She led as the eldest of her two beloved sisters, Jane and Susan. Upon graduation from Maple Hill High School, a pursuit for knowledge earned her Undergraduate Degrees in English and French from the State University of New York College at Cortland, followed by Graduate Degrees in Education and College Administration from University of Central Florida. Upon completion, she dedicated her life to supporting the education of others as an elementary school teacher, college professor, international student’s administrator, and librarian where she received praise and recognition from Future Teachers of America.
In her spare time, she sewed, played the piano, and competed in synchronized swimming. However, nothing matched the passion for her four children Christiana, Erika, Gregory, and Daniel. She tirelessly loved and supported them despite her battle with Huntington’s Disease. Together, they leave legacy through her beloved grandson Jayden Thomas.
On November 13th, 2021 she will be laid to rest at New Sacred Heart Cemetery with her parents and sister Susan. Although she will be dearly missed, “Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality”, Emily Dickinson.
