Betsy D. Simpson

Betsy D. Simpson, 96, of Nassau passed away on April 12, 2024, at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home. Born in Albany to the late George and Florence Schuyler, she was an area resident most of her life. Betsy was employed by Albany Cardiothoracic Surgeons as an office manager for over 50 years. She volunteered her time as a member of the South Schodack Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, and she was a devout member of the Muitzeskill Reformed Church and past president of the Muitzeskill Reformed Church United Women. Betsy loved camping and cherished her trips with her family to Crown Point.

Betsy was predeceased by her loving husband Earl Simpson as well as her three siblings. She is survived by her children, Earl “Chic” (Susan) Simpson Jr., Betsy (Lawrence) Ozga, Robin (Martin) Sanger, and Scott (Cheryl) Simpson. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Rebecca, Seth, Ashley, Melissa, Ben, Schuyler, Victoria, and Gunnar as well as ten great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home for their care and compassion.

A funeral service for Betsy will be held at the Muitzeskill Reformed Church, 902 Schodack Landing Rd. Schodack Landing, NY on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Betsy’s family on Wednesday evening at the Castleton Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave. Castleton from 4-7 p.m. Interment will take place in Horizon View Cemetery, Castleton.
