Margaret M. Puccio

Castleton- Margaret M. Puccio died November 6, 2021 at age 98. She passed peacefully at her home. She is survived by her children, Jaime E. (James) Miller, Dr. Gary T. Puccio (Eileen), and Robert A. Puccio. Her son, Paul S. Puccio, his wife, Jerilyn, and her husband of 67 years, Paul J. Puccio, predeceased her.

Born in Bridgeport, Conn. May 16, 1923, she was the daughter of Vincent and Anne DiPierro. Raised in the Bronx with her brother, Frank DiPierro, and sisters, Ann Rushforth and Theresa O’Connor. Educated, academic diploma, from Evander Childs High School, Bronx.

As a young woman, she worked at Macy’s in New York City, as a Sales Associate, and at Montgomery Ward in Manhattan as a Telegraph Operator, a Secretary to Art Director, and as Assistant Art Buyer.

Later in life, after raising her family, she continued her education and obtained an AA Liberal Arts, Hudson Valley Community College, and a BA Health and Social Sciences, College of St. Rose.

She obtained a Certification for Medical Secretary, Medical Assistant, at Hudson Valley Community College, and worked at the East Greenbush Schools for 15 years as Health Office Assistant.

Life-long activities included swimming, art and painting lessons, reading, and was active in the Castleton Senior Citizen Club. She was also accomplished in needlepoint and sewing-tailoring.

Her greatest joy and fulfillment was in her long and fruitful marriage to husband Paul and her family including four children, nine grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.

A communicant of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Castleton for many years, she was a faith filled person with an open love of God, family, and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 at Sacred Heart Church, 3 Catholic Way, Castleton at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Castleton Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Avenue, Castleton on Thursday from 4-7 Pm. Interment will be in New Sacred Heart Cemetery, S. Old Post Road, Castleton.

Memorial contribution may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 3 Catholic Way, Castleton-on-Hudson, NY 12033.
